Poor people
Did you know that poverty is a serious, real issue in our society? I’m not surprised if you didn’t know that because poverty is hitting this problem for too long. However, there are a lot of stereotypes about the poor people in this country that need to be debunked before any changes can be made. It is so easy for us to see how people can get out of poverty. It generally is easier to see the big picture when you are outside the box, looking in. The list goes on and on but people don’t really quite know the problems for each person who is poor, instead of helping them they rather criticize. The solutions that I suggest to stop the stereotypes and to help the poor people to get out of poverty are to have the same opportunity as a wealthy person, education support, and proving health insurance.
If you work hard enough you can get out. Many times when a person gets to have the opportunity to talk with a person who has accomplished many things in his life and has succeeded, these people always say that if you work hard enough you can get out. This myth really bothers many people who are in poverty work really hard and they do not make any progress and their vector out of poverty and it takes a lot of resources and a lot of help to get out of poverty. When other people say that one person got out of poverty because they worked really hard at it there setting, they are not looking at the whole story because nine times out of ten that person did not get out of poverty simple because they worked really hard, they got out of poverty because they worked really hard and they had made the connections and the network to get out of poverty, and also had opportunities than other people did not. This sets a president that makes other people feel like their failing if they are working hard but not getting out of poverty. The book, The rich and the rest of us, mentions, “Jacks story underscores the extreme lack of opportunity in America” (43). This shows how bad America is lacking on giving opportunities, many people are not lazy they are hard workers and they are still in poverty. America should give the same opportunity to everyone so they can succeed, this is why it is keeping us down because people work really hard and there is no way out of poverty, and makes people feel like they are useless, this shouldn’t be happening of the people who wants to have a better life.
Everyone knows that education is the way out of poverty. This is true, but you only hear it from the wealthy people and not from the poor. Of course education is not available and accessible to everyone. Many children are not eligible for head start programs. For those of us who don’t live in poverty, it is easy to fit into schools. However, for those living in poverty, it is difficult to fit in. When every moment of everyday is devoted to finding ways to survive, school can be seen as one more thing keeping you from doing what you need to do to survive. If a single parent is desperately trying to make sure there is food on the table for dinner, money to pay rent, and working to keep the electricity from being turned off, this doesn’t mean the parent doesn’t support their children’s education. It is simply means that making ends meet. Education is a fundamental human right and vital to achieving economic growth, increasing income, and sustaining a healthy society. Education is important in helping to improve lives, break the cycle of poverty and ensure that all people are living a stable life that they have access to all the necessary things. There are many reasons why many kids do not attend school, the main reason why is because they are poor and are not provided with financial help. The book, The rich and the rest of us, mentions, “Under-funded, and poorly staffed educational institutions. While rich rids go off to college. Americas poor children drop out of school, wind up in the nationals jails or prisons, or are destined to live the lives of the working poor- or worst” (53). This explains that the only way that a person can succeed in life is by being wealthy because they have the chance to stay educated and attend college. In the other hand the poor people, the doors are shut for them and they do not have any chances. I suggest that the poor people should have the same opportunity to attend a high education and contribute with their work to this country, and this is why the poor people should be provided with educational help.
Access to comprehensive, quality health care service is important for the achievement of health equity and for increasing the quality of a healthy life for everyone. When you see homeless people, they are smelly, dirty, and with old clothes. Many times when wealthy people see them like that, they do not want to get near them because they think that this poor people are contagious and they make them see like they are nothing and worthless. The government waist more money on other things than health and it also makes this country look bad compared to other countries where they have free health insurance. This makes us look like we do not care about people but do care about the money. Access to health services means the timely use of personal health services to achieve the best health outcomes. Poor people need entry into the health care system, accessing a health care location where needed services are provided. The reason why poor people need this is because it prevents of diseases and disability, detection and treatment of health conditions, preventable death. Disparities in access to health services affect individuals and society. Limited access to health care impacts people’s ability to reach their full potential, negatively affecting their quality of life. Barriers to services include lack of availability, high cost, lack of insurance coverage. These barriers to accessing health services lead to unmet health needs, inability to get preventive services, and hospitalizations that could have been preventive services, and hospitalizations that could have been prevented. The book, The rich and the rest of us, mentions, “The money couldn’t possibly go toward things like transportation to and from work, medicine, insurance, and other priorities” (85). This means that the money is not going to any of the important problems like health. This is also why many people are in poverty because families cannot afford on paying high bills to receive insurance and this brings us down because when a person who does not have insurance and the day that the person goes in to the emergency room it increases the chances on that person to get out of poverty because now he has a huge bill that they need to pay for the visit of the doctor.
The list of stereotypes for the poor people will go on and on and their will not be an end of it. The stereotypes you only hear them from the people who are not in the situation as the poor people are. The wealthy people do not have a clue on what’s going on their heads of all this poor people, they instead are criticizing because that’s the only thing that they are good at. When a wealthy people see the poor people they only see a hole and they know that something is wrong but they don’t know exactly what is going on, but if they start to dig deeper and deeper than they will never finish on digging the hole because there are so many problems in those people life’s. The solutions that I suggest to help the poor people to get out of poverty are to have the same opportunity for them to achieve their goals and succeed in life. I think that this is what this county needs; we need to see that this country is helping people to overcome their problems and to help them to get out of poverty. Other solution that I suggest is help the poor people with education because many people say that we don’t need education no more but in fact we do need it desperately because who is going to be able to the taxes to get the nation going? People who are living in poverty if they don’t get a good education, if they are unable to go to college, and then they can’t get good jobs. We are in trouble. Many kids are falling at a very young age where they start to go the wrong path, and these individuals are extremely intelligent, very bright, but unfortunately the help gets them down when they were trying to get through the system as students. The last solution that I suggest is to help the poor people with medical insurance so that these people can be healthy and will also help this country economically because there will be less people going into the emergency rooms. I believe that with this solutions that I suggested the poor people will have a hope on getting out of poverty, and have greater chances.

should we have compassion why or why not?
We need compassion because life is hard. Compassion means a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. This may be painful, and complicated, but when we develop a basic orientation to be helpful, supportive, kind and accepting towards ourselves we may be able to deal with, and more importantly, tolerate, our stress better, and have more control over the direction of our behavior and our lives. I know we have the ability to think before we act, and this is very essential because make decision about how we want our minds to be developed. If we just do things without any reason than we will become wealthy. But knowing things gives us the option to learn about our importance of life. For me compassion it is so big and important and I would just love to see more compassion in the world and I know it is hard sometimes to give compassion to each other, especially in certain situations when we feel like others don’t deserve our compassion. Sometimes when a person hurts you is because they are hurt. When someone is hurt and not loved is because they are lack of compassion, you can’t heal an absence with holding. Hurtful behavior comes from a lack of compassion, love for the self and therefore needs compassion and love in order to heal.

Having all the materials needed, student gains creativity. The standards require students to dive deeper into and learn more about important concepts instead of learning bits and pieces about lots of concepts. Students will need to demonstrate real skills and knowledge, not just an ability to pass a test. The standards require students to think critically, to work cooperatively, and to problem solve creatively. When a child has all the right materials, they are doing the work on their own. They are having the ability to use their potential towards their work. They are able to develop their ideas; this is how they gain creativity. Learning to read is the most critical skill a child learns in the early years of school, and it can truly affect their life’s trajectory. The book, “Savage Inequalities”, mentions, “All children are capable of learning” (104). This means that all children have the ability to become someone in life if they have all the right materials. Having all the right equipment will lead them to have connection with the education; this is how they begin to start having creativity. They become to develop their own thoughts and ideas and begin to develop more creativity.
Having all the materials needed, student gains knowledge. If we want to know, how students learn, it is perhaps good to begin at the beginning, with a definition of learning. Learning is a relatively permanent change in behavior that occurs as a result of experience. We now think of learning as a relatively permanent change in knowledge that occurs as a result of experience. That knowledge is reflected in the organism’s behavior, but the important thing is that learning changes the individual’s fund of knowledge. When a school provides enough text books for each student, this allowed them to have enough time to understand and learn the main concepts. We can distinguish among a number of different kinds of memory, including short term, or working memory, and long term memory. When we talk about student learning, were mostly talking about long term memory. Distractions, like not having enough books, enough materials, can consume some of the capacity of working memory, with the result that relatively little can be encoded in or retrieved from long term memory. The book, “Savage Inequalities”, mentions, “Each class at her school in Cherry Hill, they have the books they’re s’posed to have for their grade level” (184). This is how all schools should be, the government needs to be aware that the children’s education should be one of the main priority to this country. This allowed them to not fall behind in any aspect and to move on with knowledge.
When a student has no access to materials, they feel confused and lost. Visiting new places and doing new things can be great fun, but children need to know how to get help everywhere they go in case they get lost. Being lost in you r learning and feeling useless is a scary experience no matter how old you are . For an example, if a kid is in school and they teacher is trying to explain something but she does not have enough materials to explain the concept, the kid will not understand anything what the teacher explained, he will eventually feel stupid and dumb. Now I am pretty sure that the teacher tried her best to explain but the kid feels lost because he doesn’t know what she is talking about. This is why the materials are extremely essential in a students learning process. The article, “Feeling lost”, mentions, “So I dropped out. I moved back home with no degree, disappointed parents, and a deep senses of failure and confusion” (Arbelaez). Every kid has a dream, and it is pitiful for them who attend schools that do not provide any supplies. A student should not feel useless in this type of situations, so the government should provide equally materials to every single school. Students should not feel excluded because they do not have supplies for them to learn. When we feel lost in a certain concept, teachers should have all the materials that they need to clear student thoughts. For an example, when a student feels lost or confused, a good way that a teacher should do is to make posters with pictures included. This way, a student will have a better understanding.
For children to be successful in school, parents and family need to be actively involved in their children’s learning process. If the school does not provide with all the materials and supplies that are needed to teach a children, the family need to become involved early and stay involved throughout the school year. Not just because the school doesn’t provide the materials, but it is also essential that what the family does is more important to a child’s school success than how much money the family makes or how much education the parents have. The book “Savage Inequalities”, mentions, “These kids are aware of their failures, some of them act like the games already over”(70). This means they have not gained any knowledge. They fell useless, but if they are close to their parents they will feel more secure. This can help them to develop positive attitudes toward school and learn with what the school can afford and to build confidence in them as learners. Parents should provide some time for their children. Away that a parent can teach children for a better understanding is by using objects from their homes, this won’t meet their standards all the way but will help them in some way. Sparing some quality time with their kids and helping them understanding certain things will help them.
Having no materials in school, a student feels unprepared. How do the educational system aspects a poor school that does not provide the materials needed to get a good percentage on the student tests score? You can’t expect a student to have good grades on their test when materials are not provided. They eventually do not have anything to practice or study with. When students don’t have supplies, they are bored and not doing nothing interesting. If they have materials, the teacher will do activities to prepare them for test, they will be able to think about things, plan things, because if there is no material the teacher has to prepare them by just telling them and they will eventually blank out and completely forget everything what they were thought.
Having all the materials needed in school, a student has a high self-esteem. We've long known that when students feel good about themselves, they are much more likely to become better achievers in the classroom. Fostering can do attitudes and building students' confidence by setting them up for success and providing positive feedback along with frequent praise are essential tools for both teachers and parents. Think about yourself, the more confident you feel, the better you feel about the task at hand and your ability to do it. When a child is feeling good about themselves, it's much easier to motivate them to become academically proficient. When a student is provided with the right materials they feel on the right track. It makes them have physical confident and mentally as well. For an example, when I do all my homework on time and when the teacher asks for it, I actually feel good about myself, I also feel confident and not left out. Always remember that self-esteem is about how much children feel valued, appreciated, accepted, loved and having a good sense of self-worth. Having a good self-image. The book, “Savage Inequalities”, mentions, “And some kids, when they don’t understand they feel embarrassed” (185). This shows how bad a kid feels when they don’t understand, and they shouldn’t be feeling like this because they are worth so much. Self-esteem is an important component to almost everything children do. Not only will it help with academic performance, it supports social skills and makes it easier for children to have and keep friends. Relationships with peers and teachers are usually more positive with a healthy dose of self-esteem. Children are also better equipped to cope with mistakes, disappointment and failure; they are more likely to stick with challenging tasks and complete learning activities. Self-esteem is needed life-long and we need to remember the important role we play to enhance or damage a child's self-esteem.
If there is no materials in school, a good way to get money is by cutting off certain community help from the government like welfare. There is many people who just live by this, don’t work and are very lazy. They don’t deserve the money; they should find a job and stop using money from the government. There needs to be monitoring and other things as there are quite a few people that are on Welfare that are using these funds for things like drugs and alcohol. No system is perfect, but we should strive to make it better at least. I understand everyone may need some help sometimes in their life but their needs to be reform to the current system. If all the people who are receiving welfare would start working and give all the money for schools, this will really make a difference for a student future. The book “Savage Inequalities”, mentions, “But we need our education too. Make it equal. Even if you have to take some funds from somewhere else” (186). This shows how education is essential for them, kids want to learn, but the government is not providing enough help. The government should cut off welfare and give that money to schools. This will improve the country because if the government keeps on feeding lazy people will not help at all and instead they should give the money for schools, and with time more students will be educated and have better jobs, and less poverty.

education research
What I read in the book is that the government would hire more teachers but they found out that hiring teachers with advanced degrees would not improve schooling. Big budgets would not boost achievement. The problem that the students had was their parental influential, and not the teachers. The book was coming with all this different reasons why the students were not in the expected level for their education. The parents are one of the main points why students are such low in their education. I found this article that has a little bit of common with what the book mentioned. This article talk about that the condition of the school is not the problem that is influencing the students learning. It mentions that the district officials have replaced the school principal and hired teaching coaches for professional development, and that the improvement was not enough. This shows that the teachers and the school environment have nothing to do with the lack of the students’ knowledge.

Another thing that they both have in common is that there is a lack of parent involvement was one of the most serious school problems. Among public school principals, poverty was described as a serious problem as often as lack of parent involvement. Something that they have in common is that the book mentioned that the problem with kids not learning was because the children did not have the right equipment, but because children do not have appropriate equipment, there are no variables to be observed. The website mentions that effective classroom managers create orderly, safe environments where students feel valued and comfortable. In their rooms as almost everywhere in Camden, lack of funds creates a shortage of materials. Half the children in the classroom have no texts.

There is a lot of poverty in this country. The book mentions that the president is not doing what he said before he was elected; the only thing he said was just compromises but no action. He speaks of his goals and they sound very fine. He mentions preschool education early childhood. Where is the money? Many parents have children coming to kindergarten or to first grade who are starting out three years delayed in their development. Something that the book and the research is that they are mentioning the size of the classes does matter. Teachers like having small classes. Students that report on teachers attitudes about small classes have found very positive responses from educators. Teachers believe they cover more content in greater depth and have fewer discipline problems with small classes. The book said that in order to get these kids to pass the tests, they’ve got to be divided up according to their previous test results.
